Labor Foreman
The Town of Irondequoit is seeking an experienced leader to oversee major functions within the Department of Public Works. The position is responsible for supervising several small crews or one large crew in construction, maintenance, repair, and cleaning work. Employees may assist with hands‑on work. Duties include scheduling and reviewing daily assignments of crew workers while providing general supervision. The role also oversees sanitary sewer service and maintenance, pump station management, and may be assigned other duties within the Department of Public Works. An on‑call requirement of 24 hours per day, 7 days per week for emergencies, including snow and ice removal, is required.
Salary Step 1 (hire rate): $33.90 per hour
Step 2 (after 6 months): $36.95 per hour
Step 3 (after 1 year): $42.48 per hour
Location Department of Public Works, 2629 East Ridge Road, Rochester, NY 14622
Minimum Qualifications
Three (3) years of paid full‑time or part‑time experience performing mechanical or functional duties in Public Works with sewer infrastructure.
Internal candidates must have completed at least two (2) years of permanent status as a Motor Equipment Operator, Senior Motor Equipment Operator, or Working Foreman.
Must maintain a valid New York State CDL Class B Driver’s License.
FLSA CLASSIFICATION: Non‑exempt
Responsibilities
