Dunn Heat Exchangers Inc.
The QC Manager oversees all aspects of quality control within the heat exchanger manufacturing process. This role is responsible for ensuring products meet applicable codes (e.g., ASME, TEMA, API), customer specifications, and internal quality standards. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of welding inspection, pressure vessel fabrication, and NDE methods specific to heat exchanger production.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the QC department in all inspection and documentation processes related to heat exchanger fabrication. Ensure strict compliance with
ASME Section VIII ,
TEMA standards , and
API 660/API 510
requirements. Supervise and perform in-process and final inspections, including fit-up, weld inspections, hydrostatic testing, and dimensional checks. Review and interpret fabrication drawings, customer specifications, and material test reports (MTRs). Verify traceability of materials and weld consumables used in fabrication. Coordinate with production and engineering teams to address quality concerns and drive improvements. Manage NDE processes including RT, UT, PT, MT, and coordinate with certified third-party inspectors as needed. Maintain calibration and proper use of measuring and inspection tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, pressure gauges). Prepare and manage all required documentation packages (ITPs, weld maps, test records, NCRs, etc.). Train QC personnel on inspection techniques, code compliance, and quality system requirements. High school diploma or equivalent required API 510 Certification required CWI Certification required Experience with ASME Section VIII and TEMA standards is essential Working knowledge of NDE techniques and certification (e.g., RT, PT, UT, MT) preferred Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, weld symbols, and fabrication documents Proficient in the use of inspection instruments such as calipers, micrometers, tape measures, pressure gauges Understanding of material traceability, welding procedures (WPS/PQR), and QA documentation Strong leadership skills and experience managing a QC team in a fabrication environment Excellent communication and reporting abilities Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality systems and root cause/corrective action processes Preferred Qualifications
Associate or technical degree in Mechanical or Welding Engineering AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) is a plus Experience working with customers and third-party inspectors (e.g., Lloyd’s, TUV, ABS) Background in pressure vessel and shell & tube heat exchanger manufacturing Seniority level
