Position Summary The

Event Security

position is responsible for ensuring the safety of all guests at PeoplesBank Arena and Pratt & Whitney Stadium.

This role pays an hourly rate of $25.07

Benefits for Part-Time roles: 401(k) Savings Plan and 401(k) matching

This position will remain open until April 10, 2026.

About the Venue PeoplesBank Arena

is Connecticut’s premier destination for sports & entertainment. The 15,000+ seat downtown arena is home to the eleventh-time National Champion UConn Women's Basketball team and the six-time National Champion UConn Men's Basketball team. Led by Hall of Fame basketball Head Coach Geno Auriemma and Dan Hurley, the Men's & Women's basketball programs have established themselves as national powerhouses. PeoplesBank Arena is also home to the AHL’s Hartford Wolf Pack, the primary developmental affiliate of the New York Rangers.

PeoplesBank Arena entertains millions of visitors annually with a variety of concerts, family shows, ice‑skating spectaculars, consumer events, and trade shows throughout the season. The venue has played host to an extraordinary roster of world‑renowned artists, including Taylor Swift, Justin Timberlake, Bruce Springsteen, Billy Joel, Pearl Jam, Black Eyed Peas, Britney Spears, Drake, and many others. PeoplesBank Arena will continue to be the center of sports and entertainment for Hartford and the State of Connecticut for years to come.

Responsibilities

Arrives for scheduled shift on‑time, tucked shirt, neatly groomed, in a clean, pressed, well‑maintained complete uniform

Verifies credentials to ensure control of access into restricted areas

Answers guest questions in a knowledgeable and helpful manner

Responds immediately and professionally to guest disturbances/incidents

Secures both ticketed areas and non‑ticketed areas of the facility

Screens guests as they enter the facility in accordance with the established standards

Accurately and thoroughly completes all pertinent reports and documentation

Effectively diffuse potentially volatile situations

Works cooperatively with all staff and emergency professionals

Interacts in a polite and professional manner, and maintains a positive and helpful demeanor with everyone

Consistently and continually enforces facility policies & procedures related to prohibited items, disruptive behavior, etc.

Performs other duties as required to the satisfaction of Supervisors and Management

Qualifications

Valid CT Guard Card, required

Prior Customer Service Experience, preferred

Excellent communication skills required with thorough understanding of written and spoken English, required

Knowledge and skill in radio communication, preferred

Ability to stay focused and maintain a high level of awareness of all happenings in/around the assigned location

Ability to listen effectively, take and execute directions, as given

Ability to work a flexible schedule including days, nights, weekends, and holidays

Possession of, or ability to obtain, a current CPR and Crowd Management certificate, preferred

Ability to work at the arena in Hartford, CT and the stadium in East Hartford, CT

Ability to stand for at least 4-8 hours per shift

Ability to work independently and in a team environment

Ability to traverse a variety of terrain and floor surfaces including stairs, escalators, carpet, concrete

Ability to work in heights, in darkened area, around crowds, loud noises and flashing lights

Ability to remain calm and focused in fast‑paced environment and stressful situations

Ability to work in adverse weather conditions, as needed
