Instruct programs as assigned in accordance with YMCA guidelines. May assist in the development of programming Follow YMCA policies and procedures including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergency procedures Increase participant awareness of whole person health. Set up and take down class equipment. Report any equipment needs to supervisor. Accurately maintain related records. Convey basic information on YMCA programs and schedules to members and, as appropriate, refer members to other YMCA programs and/or staff. Attend staff meetings and approved trainings as required. Other duties as assigned. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. Qualifications What we're looking for in an applicant
At least 16 years of age or older. Six months or more previous experience working with children; camps, child care, tutoring, nanny, coaching. Current state approved first-aid certification. Current state approved community CPR certification. Knowledge of culturally relevant and developmentally appropriate practices. Preferred Education/Experience: Prefer knowledge of, and previous experience with, diverse populations (language, culture, race, physical ability, sexual orientation, etc.).
