Hip Hop Dance Instructor at Yesler Community Center The Associated Recreation Council (ARC), in partnership with Seattle Parks & Recreation, is hiring a Hip Hop Dance Instructor. The Hip Hop Dance Instructor will be responsible for programming and delivering a hip hop dance class to children aged 5-12 years. The Instructor will be responsible for creating lessons and teaching the fundamentals of hip hop. The instructor must have the ability to engage with a diverse group of children and manage a classroom of students. A passion for teaching, hip hop and dance are a must! This is a year-round part-time role starting asap. There are multiple opportunities to extend.

Wednesday 5:30 pm – 6:30 pm / Saturday 2:00 pm- 3:00 pm
The schedule is subject to change based upon programming needs and requirements.
Responsibilities Relationship Building
Create a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for all participants
Collaborate with recreation coordinator and other on-site staff to ensure safety of all participants
Collaborate with recreation coordinator to manage behavioral concerns of all participants
Communicate with parents, coworkers and Seattle Parks and Recreation partners in a professional and courteous manner
Attend all required meetings and training
Care and Safety
Complete required accident/incident forms if participants or instructors are injured
Programming Requirements
Develop and deliver developmentally appropriate lesson plans/activities in the subject area of hip hop dance to ages 5-12 at multiple sites throughout Seattle
Use critical thinking to problem-solve
Generate supply lists for each class as needed
Maintain appropriate professional appearance
Daily set-up, take down and cleaning of space
Minimum Qualifications
Must be 18 years of age or older
2 years prior experience with hip hop dance required
Prior youth programming experience required
Must have demonstrated working experience working with families, community members and partners to foster positive relationships
If hired, you will have approximately 3 hours of Human Resources new hire onboarding/training and 1 hour of on-site onboarding/training
If hired, must successfully complete/pass a background check
If hired, must provide proof of eligibility to work in the US and valid government issued ID and sign up for direct deposit with either checking or savings account
Pay
Starting Pay: $27.00 - 29.00/hr.
Full Pay Range: $27.00 - 37.00/hr. (employee may earn up to $37.00/hr with continued employment)
