Job Description Results Statement : The Geologist will support the project manager, staff engineers, laboratory manager, or other staff as directed to assure client satisfaction following the applicable standards, specifications and company guidelines.
Ongoing Work
Perform field logging for geotechnical site investigation in various geologic bedrock formations across the State of Texas.
Train geotechnical field technicians on characterizing bedrock samples obtained in various geological formations.
Access and analyze project site geological formations using geological maps prior to site investigations and advise the project team.
Perform laboratory tests.
Document the work performed as appropriate.
Provide support to Project Manager, Staff Engineers and/or Laboratory Manager as needed.
Perform duties in a safe, cheerful, efficient and workmanlike manner.
Get cross trained on laboratory testing.
Key Criteria / Requirements
Possess Bachelors in Geology or minimum of 2 years of experience in bedrock characterization in various geologic formations.
Ability to lift concrete, soil, or asphalt samples as a routine part of the job.
Ability to tolerate year-round outdoor work.
Valid Texas Driver's License with no history of accidents or alcohol/drug related traffic offenses.
Willingness to travel and work out of town about 95 percent of time in a month when needed and ability to work over the weekends if needed.
Ability to lift 50 lbs required.
Ability to acquire related certifications, review ASTM standards for lab testing and fieldwork.
