Job Coach
An ESS Job Coach will assist the Transition Coordinator in preparing students to be work ready.
Qualifications Minimum of a high school diploma or GED Valid NJ criminal history letter Direct experience with students who have extensive challenges in the areas of emotional and behavioral regulation, hygiene and self-help, attention and engagement, and learning. Ability to effectively communicate and work well with students, staff, parents, and administration.
Major Duties and Responsibilities Develop and coordinate work-based learning opportunities for students. Support students in identifying career interests, preferences, strengths and goals and match them with appropriate job sites. Contact local businesses, including grocery stores, to arrange opportunities and secure donations to support students and families in need. Create and maintain spreadsheets using Microsoft Excel to track students progress and outreach efforts. Maintain confidentiality about all aspects of a student's disability and performance, including written and oral reports. Provide on-side support at work placements to help students build motivation, confidence, and workplace skills. Guide students in operating the school store, including training them to use the cash register and manage basic transactions. Conduct observations and evaluations of students at the job sites to monitor their progress and provide feedback.
