Job Description The Youth and Family Support Specialist Coordinator will be responsible for leading and engaging group activities, fostering personal growth, and building relationships within the community. This position requires a strong commitment to youth and family development, excellent communication skills, and a passion for creating positive change.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and implement age-appropriate group activities that promote leadership, teamwork, and personal development.
Create a safe and inclusive environment where young people feel valued and supported.
Facilitate discussions on relevant topics such as mental health, substance abuse prevention, and conflict resolution.
Lead engaging group activities, fostering personal growth, and building relationships within the community.
Support families in developing early literacy skills and creating home learning environments.
Promote positive youth development through mentoring, tutoring, and life skills training.
Work with youth involved in the juvenile justice system, providing re-entry support and prevention services.
Assess needs, develop support plans, and connect families to appropriate resources.
Offer emotional support, guidance, and life skills development through counseling and mentoring.
Respond to immediate crises and provide necessary support through crisis intervention.
Build relationships with families and the community, promoting programs and services.
Coordinate services with other agencies and professionals to ensure comprehensive support.
Advocate for youth and families’ needs to policymakers and stakeholders.
Administrative Tasks
Maintain accurate records of group attendance, activities, and participant progress.
Prepare reports and documentation as required.
Assist with program planning and evaluation.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalency in social work, psychology, or a related field (preferred).
Passion for working with young people and a strong belief in their potential.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to create engaging and interactive group activities.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Experience in group facilitation and youth development (preferred).
Must pass all Department of Child Services required background checks.
