SUMMARY
This individual is responsible for developing and executing fundraising initiatives and programs to help achieve our agency’s overall mission and goals. This position involves researching, prospecting, cultivating and managing relationships with donors, as well as coordinating fundraising activities. The Development Officer ensures that the agency’s development efforts are successful and that donor support is maximized.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Bachelor’s degree (B.A., B.S.) in a fundraising, marketing, communications, or a related field from a regionally accredited university plus 3-5 years of experience in fundraising and development preferred. Employment is contingent upon providing evidence of a related degree and clear background checks.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Fundraising and Donor Relations
Develop and implement annual fundraising plans aligned with agency goals
Cultivate, solicit, and steward individual donors, corporate partners, and foundations
Manage donor relationships, including major gifts, recurring donors, and planned giving
Utilize and manage resources such as a CRM database, social media platforms, email, direct mail, or other resources as appropriate to manage donor relations and outreach
Prepare and deliver compelling fundraising appeals and proposals
Stay informed of fundraising trends, techniques, and technology (including database technology or managing the agency’s social media platforms)
Grant and Sponsorship
Research, write, and submit grant proposals and sponsorship requests
Manage grant reporting and ensure compliance with funder requirements
Events and Campaigns
Plan and coordinate fundraising events and campaigns
Collaborate with staff and volunteers to maximize engagement and revenue
Data and Reporting
Maintain accurate donor records in the donor management system
Track fundraising progress and prepare regular reports for leadership and the board
Collaboration and Outreach
Work closely with the Executive Director
Support board members in fundraising and donor engagement efforts
Represent the organization at community events and networking opportunities
