A Day in the Life As a Safety Specialist for Montrose Air Quality Services (MAQS) Stack Division, you will report to the Safety Director and support the health and safety team and the day‑to‑day safety performance for the U.S. MAQS Stack Division. The duties below are anticipated but may change based on your skillset and knowledge base. Flexibility is vital to the success of the role.

Job Duties

Build relationships with the Safety Director and MAQS Operations Management to achieve a high level of safety performance

Drive standardization of HSE practices through the teams to achieve continuous improvement

Provide HSE support to customer locations including major refineries, chemical plants, power plants, and testing facilities

Work with line management to proactively ensure compliance with government regulations and customer/company requirements

Perform written program audits, track action items to closure, and assist local offices in completing necessary tasks

Inspect workplace environments to verify compliance with local, state, and OSHA requirements

Measure and report on KPIs and use HSE systems to foster improved performance

Assist with and/or investigate incidents with local teams, developing corrective actions

Develop periodic communications such as Safety Flashes and Safety Toolbox Talks

Identify and implement safety compliance solutions

Prepare safety posters, meeting materials, newsletters, etc., for local offices

Develop and deliver HSE training modules

Complete assigned projects and tasks in a timely manner

Assist with Driver Safety Dashboards, driver lists, asset lists, and training for Montrose’s Driver Safety Program

Your Expertise and Skills

Degree in Safety, Environmental or related field (required)

1–5 years of relevant safety work experience (required)

General knowledge of Federal and State OSHA requirements

Experience in Stack Testing (plus)

Prior Health or Industrial Hygiene experience (plus)

Self‑motivated with ability to prioritize competing tasks (required)

Hands‑on training experience (plus)

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and related business applications (required)

OSHA 30‑hour training (plus)

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Ability to work independently and in a team environment

Valid driver’s license and clean driving record (required)

Physical Requirements

Climb ladders and stairs; navigate industrial facilities

Work from heights and wear respirator

Walk on uneven surfaces at facilities or project locations

Travel up to 50% of the time, domestic and international

Work at a desk and/or computer for extended hours
