Futures Strategic Space Lead
to join our MSEIT team in El Segundo, CA.
You will join the MILSATCOM Systems Engineering team to help define the next generation of space communication systems supporting the US Space Force's Military Satellite Communications. You will support Systems Engineering & Integration activities in a multidisciplinary, collaborative environment, interfacing with SE&I team members, contractors, government civilians, and USSF personnel.
The MSEIT effort provides leading‑edge SE&I for the Space Force’s Space Systems Center (SSC), supporting acquisition of state‑of‑the‑art Military Satellite Communications systems to provide secure, survivable, and protected communications worldwide.
Key Responsibilities
Manage strategic space future development for the Space Systems Command (SSC) Military SATCOM portfolio.
Develop and maintain next‑generation technology and communications system development and design baselines.
Manage technical baselines through procurement and Authority to Proceed (ATP).
Integrate industry solutions into Nuclear Command, Control, and Communications (NC3) system baselines.
Design and sponsor demonstrators and prototypes to validate design assumptions.
Develop standards, frameworks, and models to describe and procure next‑generation NC3 systems.
Work with industry, stakeholders, users, and operators to define requirements and capabilities.
Direct a small team of engineers to assess, develop, validate, and document the technical baseline.
Required Qualifications
Active Secret clearance.
Bachelor of Science (BS) in communications, computer science, networking, radar, LSI, or equivalent technical field.
15 years’ experience in a technical role.
10 years’ experience with technical requirements development, systems engineering, systems integration, or technology development.
5 years’ experience with future‑technology efforts (e.g., analysis of alternatives, trades, prototypes, demonstrators, standards development).
Strong ability to articulate market ideas and concepts to stakeholders in support of next‑generation technology.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills with diverse technical teams.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Desired Qualifications
Master of Science (MS) in an engineering, math, physics, or computer science discipline.
Certifications such as PMP, INCOSE CSEP, or ESEP.
Chief Engineer experience.
Experience with space systems and/or military or commercial satellite systems.
Experience overseeing development contracts for hardware and software design, simulation, and prototyping.
Experience leading, managing, or supervising small teams.
Familiarity with NC3 organization and next‑generation concepts.
Target salary range: $160,001 - $200,000.
