Position Overview Sirius Staffing is supporting the search for a Corporate Project Engineer – Mechanical to support engineering projects across multiple U.S. manufacturing facilities. This position requires strong project planning, budgeting, and sound engineering judgment, along with the ability to work across engineering, operations, and external partners. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring progress according to approved financial plans and performance expectations, while supporting safe and effective execution in operating facilities.
This role is suited for someone who has excellent communication skills and enjoys applying their engineering expertise to real‑world capital projects, from early concept through installation and startup. It is centered on end‑to‑end responsibility for capital projects, including the development and control of scope, budgets, schedules, and execution plans. Projects are typically $3 million + and candidates with experience on larger capital projects are encouraged to apply.
What You Will Do
Support and execute capital projects typically valued at $3 million and above, from concept development through project closeout
Develop and maintain detailed scopes of work, ensuring engineering solutions align with operational, safety, and reliability requirements
Develop, track, and maintain project budgets, including cost estimates, forecasting, and expenditure tracking
Develop and maintain project schedules, identify risks to timelines, and support schedule recovery actions when required
Prepare and support Authorization for Expenditure (AFE) requests and supporting financial documentation
Maintain project execution plans, including milestones, deliverables, and coordination requirements
Apply mechanical engineering judgment to evaluate technical solutions, equipment selections, layouts, and installation approaches
Identify, document, and address project delays, cost impacts, and scope changes using formal project documentation
Coordinate project activities through construction, commissioning, and handover phases
Review engineering drawings, specifications, and installation plans for constructability and compliance
Coordinate and facilitate internal and external project review meetings
Coordinate with contractors, vendors, consultants, and internal stakeholders to support project execution
Participate in contractor onboarding activities, including site orientation and safety presentations
Provide technical support to manufacturing facilities, including troubleshooting, equipment assessments, and sharing best practices
Develop an understanding of manufacturing operations, process flows, and equipment functionality
Prepare written reports and presentations on project status, schedule performance, and budget tracking
Support facilities during shutdowns, safety‑related projects, and other assigned engineering initiatives
Apply applicable external codes, standards, and regulations (OSHA, NFPA, building codes, etc.)
Support the development and application of internal safety and project standards
Perform special projects and other duties as assigned
Qualifications You Will Need
Completion of a n
Engineering degree
(Mechanical, Civil, Structural) from an accredited institution
(required)
5+ years of working experience on capital engineering projects
Experience working on
capital projects valued
at $3
million or greater
Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining
project scopes, budgets, and schedules
Ideally e xperience d in applying mechanical engineering principles in
industrial or manufacturing environments
Ability to read and interpret
Civil, Structural, and Mechanical drawings
Experience working with equipment installations, construction activities, and commissioning efforts
Strong understanding of project documentation, cost tracking, and schedule controls
Strong organizational, analytical, and problem‑solving skills
Proficiency with MS Office; familiarity with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Schedules, Excel, and Microsoft Power BI is preferred
Ability to work independently while collaborating with engineering, operations, and external partners
Willingness to travel (minimum 50%) to U.S. manufacturing facilities
Strong verbal and written communication skills across all levels of the organization
Expected to model safe behavior, support company objectives, and value diversity
Preferred Experience
Background in
lumber mills, sawmills, OSB, or wood products manufacturing
is a strong plus
Experience in
manufacturing, heavy industrial, or process‑based environments
Candidates without wood products experience should have solid industrial manufacturing backgrounds and a willingness to gain operational familiarity through site exposure
Five (5) or more years of experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment
