The Physical Therapist (PT) is responsible for evaluating, diagnosing, and treating patients with physical impairments, functional limitations, or movement-related conditions.
This role focuses on restoring mobility, reducing pain, improving functional independence, and preventing disability through evidence-based therapeutic interventions.
The Physical Therapist works collaboratively with patients, families, and interdisciplinary care teams to deliver high-quality rehabilitative care.
Key Responsibilities
Perform comprehensive patient evaluations and develop individualized treatment plans
Provide therapeutic interventions including exercises, manual therapy, modalities, and functional training
Monitor patient progress, adjust treatment plans as needed, and document outcomes accurately
Educate patients and caregivers on treatment goals, home exercise programs, and injury prevention
Supervise and guide Physical Therapist Assistants and support staff as applicable
Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in compliance with regulatory and organizational standards
Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary healthcare teams to coordinate patient care
Ensure patient safety, proper body mechanics, and adherence to infection control practices
Maintain treatment equipment and ensure a safe therapeutic environment
Comply with ethical standards, state practice acts, and healthcare regulations
Required Qualifications
Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree from an accredited program
Must have at least 2 years of recent experience in the specialty within the past 2 years.
Current Physical Therapist license or eligibility for licensure in the applicable state
Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, and rehabilitation techniques
Ability to assess, diagnose, and develop evidence-based treatment plans
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and patient education skills
Ability to work with patients across diverse age groups and physical conditions
Proficiency with clinical documentation and electronic health record systems
Preferred Qualifications
Prior clinical experience in outpatient, inpatient, rehabilitation, or acute care settings
Experience treating orthopedic, neurological, cardiopulmonary, or post-surgical conditions
Strong collaboration and leadership skills
Certifications
CPR and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
