Job Summary Compliance position with advanced understanding of all plan types, facilitating complex interactions with Plan Consultants.
Responsibilities
Successfully complete and support the work outlined for the Compliance Associate roles
Read and comprehend retirement plan provisions from plan documents, summaries of plan provisions, and related plan materials to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulations
Understand and apply legislation and regulations, including IRS, DOL, and ERISA, when preparing, analyzing, and interpreting information
Support DOL, IRS, and large plan audits
Assist Plan Consultants in resolving operational and compliance issues related to qualified plans
Be responsible for plan administration, compliance and testing for identified blocks of business
Track and monitor job progress to ensure all necessary data is requested and received to meet compliance deadlines
Prepare annual valuation and compliance reports for clients
Provide detailed consultations with Plan Consultants in drafting plan documents, plan amendments, and other legal documents
Complete assigned quality assurance reviews
Protect, secure, and properly handle all confidential data held by Ascensus to prevent unauthorized access, improper transmission, or unapproved disclosure of information that could result in harm to Ascensus or clients
Demonstrate core values of People Matter, Quality First, and Integrity Always® in day‑to‑day actions
Assist with other tasks and projects as assigned
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree preferred
3 to 8+ years of hands‑on retirement plan testing experience
Experience performing employer calculations
Experience with Form 5500 and other relevant documents
Experience with cash basis and/or trust accounting
Strong Word, Excel, and Outlook skills
Strong written and oral communication skills
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize, manage tasks, and meet business‑operations and ERISA compliance requirements
Associate holds Retirement Plan Fundamentals certification upon meeting eligibility requirements
QKA designation preferred but not required
Involvement or work toward QPA designation preferred
Prior experience with plan administration software, e.g., FT Williams or ASC, preferred
Salary & Benefits National average salary is $65,000 - $95,000, exclusive of bonuses and benefits. Salary may vary based on location, experience, performance, and internal alignment. Additional benefits include 401(k) match, medical, dental, vision, paid time off, etc.
