We are looking for Jail Officers! The purpose of this classification is to provide and maintain security, safety, care, and control of inmates, detention facility, and facility equipment and to supervise inmates in the County jail.

Essential Functions:

Enforces all rules and regulations of the jail; maintains safety and security of the facility; supervises and escorts inmates throughout the facility.

Receives/processes inmates; conducts searches of inmates and facility; prepares/processes documentation utilizing different technologies.

Classifies/segregates inmates based upon various housing criteria.

Monitors, supervises, and conducts inmate activities throughout the facility.

Coordinates, monitors, or performs functions relating to inmate health, safety and welfare as directed.

Performs periodic security checks of facility, monitors video surveillance.

Responds to emergency situations within the facility. Assists in controlling/restraining violent/unruly prisoners.

Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent. Must obtain and maintain P.O.S.T. Basic Jail Officer Certification within one (1) year of hire. Must possess a valid driver's license, be at least 18 years of age, no state or federal convictions punishable by imprisonment in federal or state prisons, no misdemeanor convictions sufficient to establish a pattern of disregard for the law, and no convictions of Family Violence Crimes.
