Co‑ordinate and expedite the flow of materials (from suppliers and within departments) according to production schedules and customer needs. Ensure compliance with DOT and IATA regulations per GE ITC policies and site export control procedures. Maintain all paperwork per GE policy. The role has some autonomy but is focused on execution of activities within an operating discipline covered by standard functional practices and procedures. Some judgment may be required, typically with guidance.

Roles and Responsibilities

Lead shipping operations for the Evendale 800 dock to ensure safe, compliant, on‑time, cost‑effective outbound material flow.

Ensure all shipments are packaged to commercial standards prior to shipping.

Determine best carriers per shipment, schedule pickups, and resolve carrier exceptions with internal stakeholders.

Process all outbound shipments with complete, accurate labeling and documentation.

Execute DOT and IATA‑compliant hazmat classification, packaging, marking/labeling, and documentation; maintain current certifications.

Maintain packaging inventory levels, set par levels, and replenish materials via purchase orders in GE purchasing system.

Coordinate monthly Timber Products inspections for the 800 and 500 carpenter shops and maintain records.

Process Requests for Shipment at the dock using Impact and complete accurate, timely transactions.

Maintain shipment records and provide proactive tracking and status updates to internal customers.

Handle import shipments for campus stakeholders, prepare/verify documentation, and coordinate with customs brokers.

Enforce safe material handling, PPE use, and 5S/visual management; conduct regular safety and housekeeping checks.

Develop in‑depth knowledge of a technical discipline and use prior experience to execute policy/strategy.

Use judgment and propose alternative solutions when appropriate, with guidance.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or institution, or a high school diploma/GED with a minimum of four years’ experience in warehousing, logistics or manufacturing.

Minimum of three years experience in a warehousing, logistics or manufacturing environment.

Desired Characteristics

Strong oral and written communication skills; demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.

Experience with hazardous shipping; DOT and IATA certified.

Experience working in a union environment.

Experience with international shipping requirements.

Experience with commercial packaging practices.
