Duty Schedule Rotating Shifts
Summary/Objective of Position Assure the safety of College students, employees, guests, and visitors of the campus. Assure the safety, security, and protection of college property, buildings, grounds, equipment, and other assets of the college, as well as non-college property located on college property.
Respond to emergencies or conditions, assist, and take-action appropriate to the situation within the legal limits of the department's authority.
Description of Essential Functions of the Position In fulfilling the primary responsibilities (protection of person(s), property, and emergency response services), the duties of the Security Officer include, but are not limited to the following:
Patrolling campus grounds, either on foot, mountain bike, or an authorized college vehicle
Conducting periodic checks and inspections to ensure all buildings are safely secured.
Reporting any damage, malfunctions, faulty equipment, or utilities on campus indoors or outdoors
Enforcing all persons to comply with college regulations, rules of conduct on campus, and issuing traffic citations when necessary.
Assisting with traffic, parking, and crowd control when necessary, or as assigned by a direct-line supervisor
Assisting with security coverage during special college events, or as assigned by a direct-line supervisor
Responding to security service requests (e.g., unlocking doors, security escorts).

QUALIFICATIONS Education & Experience Minimum & Preferred
High School Diploma and six months of security experience.
Knowledge
Knowledge of the College's Code of Conduct and Regulations.
Knowledge of the Duties and Responsibilities of the department.
Skills
Observing and Reporting
Report Writing
Patrolling, Foot, Bike, and Mobile (vehicle)
Computer Proficiency
Abilities
Ability to prepare and present a presentation
Ability to assist with social functions of the college
Ability to prepare and provide training to the college community
Physical Requirements, Work Environment & Travel
Ability to lift above 50 lbs
Ability to stand for long periods of time
Ability to walk for long periods of time
Maintain a physical fitness to perform an effective patrolling
Other Requirement(s)
Defensive Driving Certification, First Aid/CPR/AED Certification, Defensive Tactics Certification.
