Join JE Dunn Construction as a Traveling Superintendent (Self Perform) in the Advanced Facilities Group (AFG). AFG integrates Mission Critical, Advanced Industries, and Industrial & Manufacturing projects to serve innovative clients on large-scale Industrial & Manufacturing, Data Center, and Semiconductor projects.
The Superintendent will plan, manage, and execute all aspects of assigned projects of some complexity, ensuring material and equipment management, people management, documentation completion, and project goal achievement for timely and profitable completion, supporting JE Dunn’s strategy, vision, and values.
Key Role Responsibilities – Core
Lead all aspects of the company’s safety culture, demonstrating commitment to an injury‑free environment and mentoring others.
Provide management of subcontractors and organize overall job and workflow.
Manage and oversee company staff, subcontractors, suppliers, and programs such as Safety, Quality, and EEO for a small or large project.
Develop work plans for subcontractors and self‑performed work.
Coordinate and manage the care, custody, and control of the project site.
Lead various meetings including daily stand‑up and weekly trade meetings.
Attend, manage, and participate in appropriate progress and/or project OAC meetings.
Create, manage, change, and implement the project’s schedule as needed in conjunction with the Project Manager.
Track and monitor project budget and costs using the project management system’s cost reports.
Communicate key project information to owners, design team, governing authorities, subcontractors, suppliers, and other departments.
Follow the project filing and documentation organization system; update drawings, logs, diaries, and inspection notebooks.
Approve or record unit cost information for weekly reports and complete daily logs and tracking reports.
Evaluate progress on self‑perform work and make adjustments as needed.
Manage material and equipment needs for the project.
Support the MOC (Material and Other Costs) and DLSC (Dunn Logistics Service Center) procurement and approval processes.
Assist in selecting the formwork, tools, and equipment necessary to complete self‑perform operations.
Manage timecard approval to ensure accurate hours and proper cost codes.
Ensure quality compliance through use of specifications, setting quality standards, in‑house QA/QC, and outside resources.
Support project closeouts by supervising pre‑punch activities and coordinating with owner, architect, and governing authorities.
Understand the project pursuit process and methodology.
Participate with field operations leadership and the project team to develop a project pre‑plan; implement, monitor, and adjust as needed throughout the project lifecycle.
Partner with field leadership to establish field staffing for their assigned project.
Partner with project management to identify schedule and costs associated with project changes.
Participate in the negotiation process with owner and architect to gain agreement for project changes.
Participate in project review meetings, including the monthly review process and other key project meetings.
Participate in project buy‑out meetings with subcontractors and vendors.
Understand and apply the terms and conditions of the owner and subcontractor contracts.
Identify and recruit top talent.
Lead, support, and promote a culture of diversity and inclusion within JE Dunn.

Manage fairly complex stand‑alone projects from start to finish.
Assume responsibility for management, scheduling, production, safety, and quality on the project or portion of the project.
Identify, understand, and actively manage project risks.
Utilize awareness, experience, and knowledge to identify problems and recommend solutions for review and implementation.
Manage deliverables provided by a variety of internal resources and functions such as IPS, logistics, etc.
Participate with the project team in project pursuits and negotiations.

Experience
5+ years construction experience.
3+ years field supervision experience.
Experience with Lean principles (Preferred).
Working Environment
Valid, unrestricted driver’s license required.
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
May require periods of travel and/or relocation.
May be exposed to extreme conditions (hot or cold).
Must be willing to work non‑traditional hours to meet project needs.
Frequent activity: standing, walking, climbing, bending, reaching above shoulder, pushing, pulling.
Occasional activity: sitting, viewing computer screen.
