The Manufacturing Trainer is a highly-motivated, self‑directed individual with a proven track record of working with and leading production personnel. The role includes managing the Training Program, designing and delivering training for Shift Supervisors, Process and Specialty Chemical Leads, and Operators, and aligning training objectives with site and business strategies. The trainer will serve as the primary contact for site management, collaborate with Human Resources, Process Owners, Quality, and EHS to maintain consistent training programs, improve SOPs, increase productivity, and foster a positive safety culture. The trainer will embody Halocarbon's Core Values of Caring, Curiosity, Collaboration, and Competitive Spirit, ensure adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), and meet all regulatory and specialty chemical and pharmaceutical quality system requirements.
Duties & Responsibilities
Train chemical operators, shift supervisors, and process/specialty chemical leads in accordance with applicable regulatory and Halocarbon standards, including initial and refresher training as defined in policy and procedures. Continuously improve the training program to ensure employees understand and comply with operating procedures and maintain appropriate documentation.
Collaborate with Process Owners, Quality Department, and EHS Department to improve and maintain robust documents (e.g., SOPs) to ensure compliance with regulatory and Halocarbon standards, including Procedure Writing, OSHA 1910.119 PSM, SOP annual certification, and ICH Q7/ISO9001 principles.
Collaborate with Human Resources, Quality, and EHS to ensure training is documented, retained, certified, and stored in accordance with Halocarbon and applicable regulatory standards.
Coordinate assessment and application of process knowledge of operating personnel, evaluate training effectiveness, and deliver training to close identified performance gaps.
Develop and maintain all plant/unit training materials, including job progressions, study guides, and test questions.
Analytical Ability / Problem Solving / Technical Skills
Confident and skilled in verbal and written communications.
Confident and effective presentation skills.
Knowledge of cGMP and Quality Systems preferred.
Research and understand applicable regulatory standards.
Demonstrated excellent troubleshooting and conflict‑resolution skills.
Computer literacy required, with proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and SharePoint).
Safety / Essential Functions
Commitment to a strong safety culture and leading by example.
Understand hazards of chemicals and equipment.
Work in environments where chemical odors may exist at permissible exposure limits.
Safely handle hazardous chemicals regularly.
Operate in adverse weather conditions (heat, cold, rain, etc.) with or without full acid gear.
Use all required personal protective equipment and tools.
Lift items weighing up to 50 pounds.
Use equipment within its design limits (e.g., weight limit on a ladder).
Evacuate the plant and report to the assigned muster point in case of emergency or drill.
Climb and descend stairs and ladders.
Requirements Education and Experience
High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent; technical school or higher is a plus.
Ability to successfully train others on Halocarbon manufacturing processing units.
5 years of chemical operator experience.
Experience coordinating projects/initiatives and strong project management.
Strong organizational skills and experience in production management and planning.
