Commercial Buyer – SA Recycling
Join SA Recycling as a Commercial Buyer to procure and price ferrous and non-ferrous materials, develop new business sources, visit customers and make informed purchasing decisions to maximize profitability in a dynamic market.
Responsibilities
Procure and price ferrous and/or non-ferrous materials within guidelines for new and existing accounts.
Develop strategic plans for new business to generate new sources of ferrous and/or non-ferrous material.
Visit and maintain current and potential customers such as demolition contractors, dealers, auto wreckers, construction projects, and industrial accounts to investigate and generate new sources of ferrous and/or non-ferrous material.
Monitor commodity market trends in conjunction with the operation's material flow to make informed purchase decisions to maximize profitability.
Purchase scrap to meet or exceed volume and profitability targets.
Ensure purchased ferrous and/or non-ferrous materials conform to specifications.
Investigate and resolve supplier complaints, ensuring complaints are recorded and follow-up actions are verified in accordance with SA Recycling’s guidelines.
Complete and submit monthly reports in a timely and accurate manner and participate in meetings to discuss and review results.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in business, sales, or marketing; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge of ferrous and non-ferrous scrap metal industry and processing & logistics techniques.
Prior experience in ferrous and non-ferrous buying preferred but not required.
Demonstrated negotiation skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication.
Creative problem‑solving skills and ability to resolve issues and provide solutions.
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
