GENERAL PURPOSE: The purpose of this position is to ensure that Harmons’ Central Food Production Facility consistently delivers safe, high quality, profitable, and efficient Meat production. This role is responsible for overseeing all Meat associates and production equipment to guarantee smooth, safe, and timely operations. A key focus of the position is close collaboration with USDA Inspectors, Quality and Control team, and Sanitation team to ensure our HACCP Plan, GMPs, SSOPs are followed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Follows established HACCP, GMPs, SSOPs, and FSMA standards

Ensure compliance with FDA, USDA, OSHA, and local health department regulations

Ensures labeling accuracy of lot codes for traceability

Ensures the quality and presentation of all Meat items produced in Central Food Production meets Harmons’ standards

Is knowledgeable about all cuts of beef, pork, chicken, turkey, seafood, etc. and is able to cut all meats

Writing the Central Food Production Meat department schedule to ensure coverage and meet production and labor goals

Teaches, mentors, and educates associates to help them be successful members of the team

Provides honest, direct, and constant feedback to associates regarding their performance and areas of improvement; assesses associate performance and influences promotion, discipline, etc.

Promptly addresses and resolves associates’ concerns and/or grievances

Follows sales plans to ensure production levels meet store needs for sales growth and appropriate in stock conditions

Plans production based off forecast and provides ingredient information to Central Food Production Inventory Control Manager for ordering

Rotates and manages finished products in the shipping cooler using FIFO methods

Trained and continues to learn all equipment in the Central Food Production Facility

Ensure associates are trained on equipment needed to perform their jobs

Ensure all equipment is calibrated and functioning properly to meet production requirements

Communicate downtime to appropriate leadership to ensure schedules are adjusted and stores are made aware of potential order delays

Assist in adjusting processes and production flow to be as efficient as possible in the Meat department of the Central Food Production Facility

Maintain manuals, videos, etc. provided for all equipment to reference as needed

Maintains necessary spare parts and tools to repair equipment in a timely manner

Maintain accurate maintenance and repair records

Perform routine preventive maintenance on equipment

Troubleshoot equipment issues to reduce downtime

Coordinate with vendors for major repairs and warranty services

Track warranties and service plans needed for each piece of equipment

Hold PCQI certification as a leader in Harmons Central Food Production Facility

MARGINAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

NATURE OF WORK CONTACTS:

Consistent and daily interaction with facility associates

Consistent and daily interaction with Inventory Control Manager, Quality and Control team, Sanitation team, and Director of Central Food Production

Desired knowledge, skills, and abilities: A high school diploma or GED required; some college education preferred; five years of meat department/butcher experience preferred; or any combination of education, experience, and training which provides the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:

PCQI certification required

Familiarity with all cuts of meat and how to prepare them

Must enjoy working with and handling meat products

Enjoys and has experience preparing, cooking, and eating a variety of seafood and meat products

Strong knowledge of food safety, sanitation standards, and regulatory compliance (FDA, USDA, OSHA, FSMA)

Experience with automated food production equipment

Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot mechanical issues and perform basic repairs

Ability to interpret policies and procedures

Excellent organization and planning skills

Must possess solid communication skills, including verbal and listening skills in order to effectively and efficiently communicate with and manage diverse groups of people

Ability to professionally and appropriately handle conflict

Must possess the ability to accept constructive review and be accountable for one’s own success as well as the success of your team

Required to make logical, significant decisions using general, recognized analytical skills and techniques

Must possess integrity, a positive attitude, be mission-driven, and be self-directed with a demonstrated passion for Harmons’ mission and commitment to working collaboratively

Work is generally performed in a safe and comfortable food production facility environment with the possibility

of frequent exposure to hot, cold, and wet conditions. While performing the duties of this job, the associate is

regularly required to grasp, push, pull, carry, stoop, twist, crouch, and reach; perform tasks requiring repetitive

motion and eye, hand, and foot coordination. Also requires standing, walking, and bending throughout the entire

workday and the ability to maneuver heavy objects weighing up to 80 pounds from location to location.
