Job Title: Phlebotomist
The main function of a phlebotomist is to assist in performing various assigned duties, troubleshooting, training, and making workflow recommendations. This role is integral in ensuring the smooth operation of specimen collection and handling processes.
Perform blood draws and label specimens accurately.
* Centrifuge specimens and record maintenance data.
* Decontaminate equipment and update patient information.
* Explain the process of venipuncture and other specimen collections clearly and courteously.
* Ensure 100% accuracy by checking all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts.
* Attend annual department training sessions.
* Answer telephone calls and read laboratory results to address inquiries.
Proficiency in phlebotomy and blood draws.
* Experience in specimen collection and handling.
* Strong customer service skills.
1-2 years of experience in a related field.
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
* High School Diploma or GED.
* Experience in a medical or laboratory setting is a plus.
The work schedule is Monday through Friday from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Sterling, VA.
