About the Role

The Company is seeking a Head of Underwriting and Business Development to provide strategic guidance and direction to the underwriting business units. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving profitable growth in the assigned product or territory, identifying and supporting new business and product opportunities, and leading process improvement and underwriting strategies. This role requires collaboration with executive management to develop and communicate production and profit-related goals, as well as the establishment of effective partnerships with strategic agencies. The Head will also be involved in mentoring regional staff, proactively resolving underwriting standard deviations, and maintaining senior-level relationships within the distribution community.

Applicants for the Head of Underwriting and Business Development position at the company should have a Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 15 years' underwriting experience, with a strong background in underwriting and marketing. Management experience is essential, with a preference for those with 10 years' in a leadership role. The role demands a leader with superior communication skills, the ability to influence and motivate a team, and a proven track record of contributing to underwriting profit. The ideal candidate will be an independent decision-maker, adept at reading and interpreting financial and actuarial reports, and experienced in developing and implementing business strategies. Proficiency in computer programs and the ability to travel as needed are also required.
