Mission
It is the mission of the South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) to impact and transform young lives, strengthen families, and support safer communities through targeted prevention and rehabilitation.
Job Purpose Prepares lesson content and instructional activities to improve students' content knowledge, mastery of skills and to increase overall content knowledge. Engages in best practices to deliver content – specific lessons and instruction to students by means of established distance learning instructional delivery platform, where applicable demonstrates technology proficiency in using district endorsed instructional applications. Establishes clear communication with students, Teacher of Records (TOR), and all personnel within the distance learning and site instructional delivery platform. Advances the mission and vision of the School District and the Agency. Adheres to all safety and housekeeping standards established by the district, state and other regulatory agencies displaying professionalism and leadership by adhering to all policies and procedures. Performs other job-related duties as required.
State Minimum Requirements A high school diploma and relevant program experience.
Additional Requirements
Must be able to demonstrate practical applications of creating products or services (auto mechanics, carpentry/woodworking, welding, robotics, coding, gaming, or other career readiness opportunities preferred) and have experience and knowledge in instructional practices, methods, strategies, to include workshop/classroom management based on positive reinforcement.
Have good observation skills.
Knowledge of safety practices relevant to the designated trade.
Knowledge of tools, equipment, and materials used in the trade.
Knowledge of techniques, methods, requirements and practices used in the designated trade.
Maintain effective working relationships with others.
Knowledge of laws, regulations, and policies and procedures relevant to the area of employment.
This position performs job duties relating to the custody, control, transportation, or recapture of youth within the Jurisdiction of the Department of Juvenile Justice, and the employee may have direct and indirect contact with youth within the jurisdiction of the Department of Juvenile Justice. Training applicable to these duties will be provided.
Preferred Agency Requirements
A high school diploma and relevant experience in a trade pertaining to creating saleable products and/or job certifications preferably in auto mechanics, carpentry, woodworking, welding, robotics, coding, gaming or other career readiness opportunities.
