Overview
We are hiring a
FLORAL/CLERK
to assist with the design, merchandising, and customer service for floral items at Fred Meyer. The role is based in Portland, Oregon and offers part‑time scheduling with flexible hours.
Responsibilities
Assist in the design and/or merchandising of floral items and arrangements for display and sale or in response to customer requests.
Provide various customer services and demonstrate the company's core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety.
Use various cleaning solutions, safely use sharp tools, and carefully operate all production equipment.
Support merchandise ordering, packing, and placement to keep the department clean, safe, and well organized.
Handle telephone calls, orders, and customer inquiries promptly and courteously.
Maintain accurate customer records and files.
Assist with decorating and merchandising the department.
Operate a cash register in accordance with company procedures.
Adhere to company policies and procedures, as well as state and federal laws.
Maintain flexibility to work weekends and holidays as needed.
Perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.
Required Qualifications
Demonstrates effective written and oral communication skills.
Ability to read shelf tags, signs, product labels, training materials, and bulletins.
Ability to multi‑task, set priorities, present information professionally, and work with all levels of the organization.
Personal initiative and follow‑through to completion.
Ability to work as part of a team in a fast‑paced environment.
Ability to operate production equipment, use cleaning solutions, and handle sharp tools safely.

Strong organizational skills to manage tools, supplies, and inventory.
Knowledge of plant maintenance, processing, and preparing flower arrangements and balloons.
Ability to maintain proper signage, product rotation, freshness, quantity, quality, and space allocation for merchandise.
Experience maintaining flexibility to work weekends and holidays as needed.
