Job description
Crossing Guards The purpose of this position is to provide Clark County School District students safe crossing at designated streets.
Essential functions include directing traffic across intersections, guiding school children across streets, assisting crippled and small children in making the crossing, moving automobile traffic as expeditiously as possible to allow crossings, notifying the Police Department to report presence on duty, and reporting unusual occurrences, accidents, or suspicious vehicles or persons loitering in the area of schools.
Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, a valid Nevada or "border state" driver's license, and passing a nationwide fingerprint-based record check and a wants/warrants check.
Knowledge of City traffic regulations, skill in problem solving, ability to move automobile traffic expeditiously, and ability to get along with school children and the public are required.
Additional information includes no supervisory classification, safety sensitive status, and potential requirement to work alternative or flexible schedules outside of normal business hours.
Physical and mental requirements include light work, good hearing and eyesight, use of all limbs, and ability to work in extreme heat and cold, with exposure to hazards such as moving vehicles and outside environmental noises.
