As a Ski Instructor at The Highlands, you'll inspire guests of all ages and abilities to discover the joy of skiing. Whether teaching first‑time skiers or coaching intermediate and advanced guests, you'll play a key role in creating unforgettable on‑snow experiences in a fun, safe, and welcoming environment. This position is ideal for passionate skiers who enjoy helping others, being outside, and delivering top‑notch guest service.

Responsibilities
Must be comfortable setting up an environment conducive to safety, fun, and learning.
Must have strong communication skills and be able to communicate effectively with students, supervisors, and co‑workers.
Must have a genuine desire to pass on knowledge of the sport and inspire others to enjoy it.
Must be able to work outside in extreme and quickly changing winter weather conditions.
Must be able to work in a physically challenging environment.
Must be able to maintain a great guest service attitude while working with beginner students on green terrain throughout the season.
Must have availability during holiday periods for winter 2025‑2026 (Dec 26th‑31st, Jan 17th‑19th, Feb 14th‑16th).
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
16 + years of age.
Must be reliable, dependable, and timely.
PSIA/AASI Certified Level 1 status is strongly encouraged (or international equivalent).
Must have a genuine desire to pass on knowledge of the sport and inspire others to enjoy it.
A great guest service personality.
A growth mindset (an openness to learning and feedback).
Basic English language skills.
Physical Demands
Previous experience in ski instruction preferred.
Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs.
Must be able to ski for up to 8 hours per day.
Must be able to teach ski lessons in harsh winter weather (cold, snow, wind, rain, sleet, ice).
Work Environment The instructor work environment is primarily outdoors in the winter weather. Temperature can vary greatly throughout the day and from day to day. Must be able to ski in snow, low visibility, powder, ice, hard pack, rain, sleet.
Position Type And Expected Hours Of Work The ski instructor position is full‑time, part‑time, peak part‑time, or temporary based on candidate availability. Typical work day is 8:45 am – 5:00 pm. Must be available for weekends, weekdays, and holidays. Some instructional programs occur in the evening after 5:00 pm but never after 9:00 pm.
