Overview Sierra Lobo, offers customers a full range of professional and technical capabilities, including Test and Evaluation, Systems Engineering, and Advanced Technologies. We also develop products and processes related to Cryogenic Fluid and Thermal Management Systems, Densified Propellant Management Systems, and Prototype Extreme Pressure and Temperature Systems. This position will be located at NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center.

Responsibilities Assignments may be in support of any of the Test Facilities in the Test Area at Marshall Space Flight Center. Provide assistance to plan and organize work operations necessary to set up, operate and maintain mechanical systems used to test propulsion systems and other associated major components related to test operations. Provide assistance to Engineering Technicians to fabricate, assemble, modify and test specialized mechanical systems and sub-systems used in propulsion test operations. Provide support in conducting various tests that may require minor modifications in test setup of systems that utilize potentially hazardous medium such as: cryogenics, high pressure gases, various propellants and oxidizers, and high-pressure hydraulics. The Lead Technician should be familiar with mechanical equipment such as tube flaring, valves, regulators, gauges, hydraulic pumps. At times will need to provide guidance to lower classified technicians. Pass and maintain all necessary company and customer certifications as required. This position will supervise both mechanical and electrical technicians.

Candidate must be capable of working with an assigned team at various MSFC Test Facilities.

Must have the ability to follow specific work instructions and mechanical schematics.

Must have the ability to understand the fundamentals of mechanical systems, specifically LOX cleanliness protocols, cryogenic and pressurization system requirements.

Qualifications Preferred Experience

Knowledge of propulsion test operations at a NASA Test Facility is desired.

Ability to operate various hand tools and cutting/flaring machines is strongly desired.

Essential Job Functions Work Environment (75% outside and 25% inside Mechanical Shops) Work Environment is characterized by 75% outside and 25% inside Mechanical Shops.

Physical Requirements Ability to lift 25 – 30 lbs. of weight, sit or stand for long periods of time, work at elevated positions, operate forklifts etc.
