The BEC Fiber division began offering 100% fiber broadband in 2017 and currently provides fiber internet service to members and subscribers in eight counties in the Texas Hill Country. Install, test, and repair fiber-optic network equipment, VoIP services, and related products. Perform fiber splicing, OTDR testing, light-level analysis, and troubleshooting of service issues. Install outdoor wireless equipment and support Wi-Fi/network configurations at the premises. Identify routing paths and solutions for complex installations. Operate bucket trucks, ladders, and work safely in confined spaces and at heights. Maintain accurate documentation of installations, test results, and service activity. Request support from colleagues or vendors when issues cannot be resolved on site. Collaborate with contractors and other departments on installations and repairs. Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and participate in required training. Customer Service and Member Relations

Resolve and close all assigned broadband service tickets promptly and professionally with detailed notes. Communicate clearly with members throughout installation or repair processes. Deliver high-quality customer experience and maintain positive member relationships. Educate members on equipment operation, basic troubleshooting, and service expectations. Assist in training staff on Tier One troubleshooting methodology. Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

Strong working knowledge of fiber-optic installations, maintenance, testing, and repair. Understanding of Tier One troubleshooting and escalation practices. Proficient with fiber fusion splicing and testing equipment. Understanding fiber counts and colors. Ability to analyze test readings (OTDR, light levels), computer diagnostics, staking sheets, and trouble reports. Familiarity with basic networking concepts such as TCP/IP, routing, DNS, and DHCP. Ability to safely operate bucket trucks, ladders, and perform work in confined spaces. Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently or with a team. Effective communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills. Solid organizational and time-management abilities. Commitment to safety, accuracy, and high-quality workmanship. Qualifications And Requirements

Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent Preferred Experience: 1 to 3 years of experience in an equivalent position Experience in installing outdoor wireless equipment Experience in finding install routes and solutions for complex installations Experience with routing protocols and hardware platforms to include TCP/IP, IP Routing, DNS, and DHCP Additional Requirements

Valid Texas Driver’s License and Related Insurance Must pass background and drug screening The position may be required to work irregular hours, overtime, on-call, and travel within BEC’s service territory. Working Conditions

The work environment varies and can be both indoor and outdoor. The technician will be exposed to hot, cold, dry, humid, noise, glare, moving objects, working at heights, slippery surfaces, congested areas, and sharp edges. They will work under pressure in a fast-paced environment, dealing with multiple tasks and performing complex or varied tasks. They will be required to attain precise standards and pay close attention to detail. The technician will be responsible for directing and controlling the plan of work, following instructions, reading, and working independently or in a group. Tobacco-free office environment. Physical Requirements

The individual in this position is required to perform tasks that involve frequent bending forward, reaching below chest level, elbow flexion/extension, wrist flexion/extension, wrist rotation, twisting/turning/tilting, crouching/squatting, kneeling, climbing, foot pedal/action. The individual in this role should have the ability to hear, speak, see colors, have near and far vision, have spatial perception, and have tactile abilities. The individual in this position must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and climb ladders without a fear of heights.
