Sendouts Lab Processing Technician - First Shift
Join Nebraska Medicine as a Sendouts Lab Processing Technician on the First Shift. You will receive, evaluate, accession, process, store, and distribute patient specimens for lab testing while adhering to departmental standard operating procedures.
Shift Details
Monday–Friday 6:00 am – 2:30 pm
Occasional Saturdays 7:00 am – noon
Key Responsibilities
Ensure incoming patient samples meet pre‑analytical testing requirements and resolve specimen issues before testing.
Process, batch, package, and ship blood and body fluid samples to reference laboratories across the country according to IATA shipping guidelines.
Organize workload for maximum efficiency and accuracy to maintain quality and timeliness of patient testing.
Project a professional image through phone, email, and other communications to internal and external customers.
Accurately enter orders, results, testing information, and demographics (data entry preferred).
Required Qualifications
Minimum 18 years of age.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Strong troubleshooting abilities to identify, evaluate, and correct issues related to specimen quality, integrity, and appropriateness for requested orders.
Ability to concentrate for long periods, use good judgment, work accurately under pressure, and handle stress to meet deadlines.
Computer experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in clinical laboratory medicine.
Direct patient care experience.
Post‑secondary education in a laboratory or health‑related field.
Knowledge of medical terminology.
