Job description CAD Drafter

Duties:

Create drafts using computer-aided design (CAD) software

Take measurements of 3d spaces and model in CAD

Interpret and analyze project specifications, sketches, and blueprints

Make revisions and modifications to existing drawings as required

Maintain organized files and documentation of all drawings and design projects

About Fleet Waveguides: A small but growing company in Newport News that procures, installs, and tests waveguides on Navy Ships. Opportunity to occasionally work on Navy Ships in a CAD capacity.

Requirements:

Proficiency in CAD software, primarily SolidWorks

Strong attention to detail and accuracy in creating technical drawings

Ability to interpret complex technical information and translate it into visual representations

Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members

Strong problem-solving skills to resolve design issues or conflicts

Associate degree or certification in drafting or a related field is preferred, but not required

Job Setting: In person at 700 Tech Center Pkwy in Newport News, VA.

Starting schedule:

Part-time ~20 hours / week. Monday-Friday.

Occasional work will be on US Navy ships with potential for occasional travel. Also, there is an opportunity to wear additional and "hats", for the candidate who wants to do more besides drafting / modelling. Depending on versatility, this could become a full-time job.
