Job Summary The CNC Mill Operator sets up and operates and maintains multi-axis computer numerical control (CNC) mill machines to perform machine functions such as boring, facing and threading of soft, hard & graphite material.
Position Summary Must be able to operate Haas Fadal controls, Mikron Heidenhain controls, and Gibbscam Helpful controls relating to 3,4 and 5 axis vertical machines.
Essential Functions
Minor edits on CNC machines: setting tool registers, offsets, compensation, and conditional switches; calculating requirements, basic math, geometry, trigonometry; proving part programs.
Set-up CNC machines by installing and adjusting tools, attachments, collets, and indicating vices.
Verify machine setup by inspecting and verifying product characteristics are within specifications and process tolerances per the part print specifications. This is done on the 1st piece and throughout the process run using the appropriate measuring device suitable for the required tolerance.
Maintain specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting operations—turning, facing, knurling and thread chasing; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.
Maintain equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer’s instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.
Maintain tooling.
Maintain continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
Maintain safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
Perform other duties as required.

Requirements Education/Experience
High school diploma or GED.
Three years of CNC experience.
Ability to read customer prints.
Ability to use hand measuring tools.
Other Requirements
Must submit to and pass background and substance abuse tests.
Must be able to provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States.
Must follow designated safety rules and regulations.
Responsible for performing duties in an environment that is free from discrimination, intimidation, coercion or harassment.
Manufacturing environment: may be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, dirt, dust, and solvents.
Must be able to work extended hours (including weekends) as necessitated by production requirements.
Physical Requirements
Visual acuity for detailed work.
Must be able to lift and maneuver 35 pounds.
Must be able to stand throughout the entire shift.
