ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Operates heavy equipment to excavate and compact earth, cut roadways and ditches, remove trees, grade land, build ponds, build roads, load/unload materials, move/haul materials, maintain County properties, install pipe and perform other general or specialized functions of the Public Works Department. May operate dump trucks, service trucks, and other trucks, motor graders, bull dozers, bob cats, front-end loaders, skid steers, bush hogs, back hoes, track hoes, rollers, packers, compactors, trailers, tractors, low boys, fork lifts, etc. May operate a vac-truck with hydraulic and water pump to clean sewer lines, cross lines and drain pipes, pump stations and lift stations. Removes debris from drainage pipes, box culverts and other storm drainage structures. Manually loads/unloads materials onto vehicles. Uses hand and power tools in various manual tasks as required. May perform cement/concrete work. Performs routine landscaping work at job sites as necessary. Uses welding and cutting torches as needed in equipment maintenance. Inspects equipment to ensure proper and safe working conditions; reports defects or required maintenance to the supervisor. Performs routine maintenance and cleaning of assigned tools and equipment. Cleans pump stations, sewer lines and manholes. Assists pump station crews. Performs hydro excavation of sewer lines as needed. Works with camera crew; smoke tests manhole for leaks. Washes lines with pull behind washer. Performs all duties in accordance with applicable policies, procedures, laws, regulations, and standards of quality and safety. Provides leadership to less experienced equipment operators as required. Attends training as required to enhance job knowledge and skills. Performs other related job duties as assigned. Education and Experience
High school diploma or GED. Requires at least two (2) years of related work experience. Special Qualifications
Must possess or be able to obtain a valid state CDL driver's license with appropriate endorsements.
