This position is responsible for providing routine non‑medical transportation services for Centra Ground Transport under the direction of the Transport Supervisor(s) or designee. The Driver will provide a safe and enriching experience for every individual from door to door, using good communication skills, performing pre‑ and post‑shift vehicle safety inspections, following scheduled transports, reporting and handling vehicle maintenance issues, and communicating all participant/patient needs to the immediate supervisor.
Responsibilities
Providing exceptional door‑to‑door care to all Centra patients.
Entering safely into patient homes on a routine basis.
Communicating all patient changes and needs to the direct supervisor.
Performing pre‑ and post‑shift vehicle safety inspections, ensuring the vehicle is in proper operational condition and reporting any maintenance issues to relevant personnel.
Maintaining cleanliness of the interior and exterior of the Centra vehicle.
Maintaining all necessary records/documentation regarding participants/patients and vehicles.
Transporting patients who are ambulatory, wheelchair‑bound, and with a stretcher van.
Communicating frequent changes to the direct supervisor or Shift Lead.
Adapting rapidly to changes between van stretcher, wheelchair shuttle, mental health, and courtesy shuttle transports.
Performing other reasonable duties as assigned.
Qualifications Required Qualifications:
Valid Virginia driver’s license.
Within six months of hire:
VAVRS or VDFP EVOC (emergency vehicle operations course) level 2.
CPR First Aid.
PASS (Passenger Assistance, Safety and Sensitivity) training.
Preferred Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED.
Previous experience in direct support, medical transport, non‑medical transport, stretcher van, or EMS experience.
