Responsibilities & Qualifications
RESPONSIBILITIES
Installs OSP/ISP fiber optic and copper cabling
Performs fiber optic terminations and testing
Installs network equipment in Communication Equipment Locations
Performs rack and stack operations
Installs cable pathways, conduits, and innerduct
Conducts fiber optic testing (OTDR, light meter)
Installs structured cabling systems
Performs electrical and grounding installations with licensed electrician
Removes obsolete cabling infrastructure
Labels and documents cable installations
Follows AF Form 103, 332, 813 processes
Implements asbestos/lead paint mitigation procedures
Installs wireless access points and mounting hardware
Performs cable management and organization
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Three (3) years of relevant experience in cabling installation
Proficiency in fiber optic installation and termination
Experience with copper cabling (Cat6/Cat6a)
Skilled in cable testing equipment operation
Knowledge of structured cabling standards (TIA/EIA)
Experience with ladder/lift operation safety
Proficient in hand and power tool use
Ability to read blueprints and diagrams
Must have an active Secret clearance
CERTIFICATIONS
Fiber optic certification (FOA CFOT or equivalent)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
OSP construction experience
Knowledge of MIL-STD cabling standards
BICSI certification
Confined space operations experience
Aerial/underground installation experience
Flightline operations experience
