Overview As a key member of the Talent Acquisition Center of Excellence, the Pre-Employment Specialist supports a thorough, compliant, and high-volume hiring process. This role is responsible for conducting comprehensive background checks and screening procedures to ensure candidates meet all hiring, safety, and regulatory standards. The position plays a critical role in reducing hiring risk, improving retention, and supporting a safe and effective workforce.

Job Specifications

Conduct comprehensive background checks including criminal history reviews, employment and education verification, and drug testing.

Perform detailed screening procedures to evaluate candidate qualifications and eligibility.

Use screening tools and databases to gather and assess relevant candidate information.

Serve as the primary point of contact for candidates throughout the pre-employment screening process.

Provide guidance and screening determinations to hiring teams and stakeholders.

Communicate screening results accurately and in a timely manner.

Maintain accurate, up-to-date records of all screening activities.

Prepare and deliver reports related to background check results.

Ensure compliance with data protection, confidentiality, and internal audit requirements.

Stay current on federal, state, and local laws related to pre-employment screening.

Ensure adherence to OSHA, EEOC, FCRA, and other applicable regulations.

Uphold ethical standards and professional practices in all screening activities.

Identify opportunities to improve and streamline pre-employment screening processes.

Track and analyze screening metrics such as turnaround time and pass rates.

Partner with recruitment, HR, and hiring managers to align screening with role-specific requirements.

Manage the day-to-day relationship with the pre-employment screening vendor.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.

3+ years of experience in pre-employment screening or HR, preferably in manufacturing or industrial environments.

Prior experience reviewing background checks and making eligibility determinations.

Experience completing individualized assessments.

Knowledge of background check processes, drug testing, and safety compliance regulations.

Strong attention to detail with the ability to make sound and consistent decisions.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to manage high-volume workloads efficiently.

Proficiency with HRIS/ATS systems and Microsoft Office; First Advantage or Sterling experience preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

Certification in HR compliance or background screening.
