PlayCV is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to create opportunities that foster academic and personal growth through diverse enrichment activities and joyful play for all students. We strive to bring enrichment programs that both introduce and deepen subject matters of interest. Our intention is to foster team and individual growth while developing social interactions. All of our programs take place onsite at one of Castro Valley Unified School District’s elementary or middle schools.
Full PLAY Instructor, TKK Support – Sub
is responsible for providing high‑quality after‑school programs for youth and their families in a structured and supportive environment. Working with a team, the TKK Support Instructor facilitates enrichment, recreation, educational opportunities, and fun experiences for students, including arts and crafts, outdoor games, and homework support.
This position is a substitute and variable‑hour role, providing coverage as needed across PlayCV school sites. The role offers flexibility and is ideal for individuals who are passionate about youth development and can adapt quickly to changing environments and team dynamics. A LiveScan background check and evidence of a negative TB test within the last 24 months are required.
Requirements
Ensure the safety of students by maintaining appropriate student‑to‑instructor ratios and the schedule for all students.
Monitor students to ensure compliance with TFP rules and prevent accidents. Clean, maintain, and ensure proper use of TFP facilities and equipment.
Report and record details of incidents (accidents or rule violations) to Team Captains, and be knowledgeable of all emergency procedures, safety guidelines, and enforce TFP rules.
Facilitate and support enrichment, recreation, educational opportunities, and fun experiences for students.
Implement supplemental enrichment activities such as arts and crafts, outdoor games, in‑house and outsourced enrichment classes, homework support, and guiding student behavior, social, academic, and career development.
Develop and refine enrichment activities such as classes, demonstrations, challenges, and plain fun.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Team Captain, Coach, or TKK Lead.
About You
High school diploma or equivalent GED.
Creative, professional, and serious about providing meaningful after‑school opportunities for youth.
Dedicated to nurturing the development of the whole child.
Strong classroom or group management skills.
Demonstrate initiative while keeping the needs of the students in mind.
Committed to constantly engaging with students throughout the day.
Have elementary and/or middle school classroom experience or After School and/or Summer Program experience.
Fair, responsible, dependable, and consistent.
Patient, compassionate, and kind.
Flexible, proactive, punctual, and able to commit to work throughout the entire school year.
