What You’ll Do The Installation Technician 1 will perform installation tasks on AVI‑SPL contracted projects, including cable pulls, cable terminations, system equipment, rack systems, and metal fabrication, following project directives and requirements and coordinating with the Lead Technician to ensure projects meet time, scope, budget, quality, safety, and customer‑satisfaction requirements.

Day‑To‑Day Responsibilities

Perform installation tasks as noted in the job summary and in support of the Lead Technician.

Read and interpret electronic schematics and architectural blueprints.

Use hand and power tools to solder, crimp connectors and perform other AV system installation tasks.

Assist the Lead Technician with management and security of all associated equipment and tools on site.

Assist with basic mechanical fabrication and basic rack wiring.

Travel to job sites as required.

Perform additional tasks, responsibilities, and projects as needed to support the team and organization, ensuring flexibility in adapting to evolving priorities and objectives.

The position will generally be performed on customer sites and may involve construction‑site type work environments.

Must‑Haves

Good communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with clients, colleagues, and vendors.

Customer‑service oriented with a focus on client satisfaction.

Basic understanding of audio‑visual systems: projectors, screens, speakers, microphones, video‑conferencing equipment, digital signage, and control systems.

Basic proficiency installing, terminating, and troubleshooting low‑voltage cabling (e.g., HDMI, Cat5e/6, fiber optic) and experience with conduit runs, cable trays, and other wiring methods.

Basic ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues with audiovisual equipment and systems.

Ability to use hand and power tools safely and efficiently.

Basic understanding of network infrastructure and its integration with audiovisual systems (e.g., IP‑based systems, streaming, cloud‑based services).

Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

Valid Driver’s License and a Motor Vehicle Record that meets AVI‑SPL Driving Privileges standards.

Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent.

Nice‑To‑Haves

Formal education in Electronics or related field.

Ability to obtain formal approved clearances (government or system specific) if required.
