Pay range:
$52,225.00 – $56,413.00 annually . Your actual pay will be based on your skills and experience.
Duties Description
Provide supports and services.
Advocate, encourage, guide, and teach individuals in expressing personal choice.
Ensure community integration.
Assist individuals with personal hygiene care, toileting, dining, dressing, meal preparation, lifts, and transfers.
Help individuals participate in games and recreational programs.
Coach and encourage individuals to develop daily living skills.
Provide a clean, safe, and comfortable environment.
Work with other staff to carry out care plans and record care plans.
Administer medication in accordance with special instructions.

Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma, GED, or an accredited Direct Support Professional (DSP) Certificate.
Valid New York State driver’s license.
Ability to meet physical and agility standards.
Additional Comments
This title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS). It may be filled via a non‑competitive appointment without an exam.
Employees hired under NY HELPS are expected to have their status converted to permanent competitive status within one year.
Preference will be given to OPWDD employees impacted by closures. If you are being impacted, please indicate this on your resume.
All employees must maintain eligibility for full and unconditional Medicare and Medicaid participation.
Employees on long‑term leave must be able to report within fourteen days and perform essential functions.
