POSITION SUMMARY
The General Maintenance Worker is a versatile, hands‑on role responsible for performing a wide range of maintenance tasks across the facility, including carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical work. The General Maintenance Worker is essential in ensuring the facility runs smoothly and safely by maintaining equipment, structures, and systems across the site.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform a variety of maintenance tasks, including carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical repairs and installations as needed around the facility.
Assist with the daily renovation breaks on the track, ensuring the facility is prepared for training or events.
Be available to assist with equine ambulance support as needed, to provide help during emergency situations or other critical tasks.
Operate various types of equipment, including but not limited to batwing mowers, ensuring proper maintenance and operation to support facility upkeep.
Address general maintenance issues throughout the facility, including repairs to structures, equipment, and systems, to ensure safety and functionality.
Work closely with other maintenance team members and facility management to address urgent repair needs and contribute to ongoing projects.
Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines when performing maintenance tasks, operating equipment, and working in various areas of the facility.
Assist in managing maintenance supplies and tools, ensuring they are properly stocked and maintained for use.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience in carpentry, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical work, with the ability to troubleshoot and repair a wide range of issues.
Experience operating various types of equipment, such as mowers, tractors, and other machinery commonly used in facility maintenance.
Ability to work independently and take initiative to address facility maintenance needs.
Strong problem‑solving skills, with the ability to think quickly and efficiently in emergency situations.
Ability to work early mornings and be flexible with work hours to accommodate facility needs.
Strong physical stamina and ability to perform manual labor, including lifting, bending, and operating heavy equipment.
Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
A strong commitment to safety, with the ability to follow established safety procedures and ensure a safe working environment.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE This role requires a highly adaptable, skilled individual who can handle a broad range of maintenance tasks and assist with both routine and emergency operations. The General Maintenance Worker plays an essential role in ensuring the facility operates efficiently and safely, contributing to the overall success of daily activities and long‑term operations.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS A Kentucky Horse Racing Authority License is required for all track workers provided upon hire by Keeneland.
