Operations Manager Job Description The role of the Operations Manager is to oversee the operational effectiveness of customer locations and maintain an engaged workforce while ensuring customer satisfaction.

Outside sales, cold‑calling, and phone sales experience preferred. Degree strongly preferred. Must be an ambitious self‑starter.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Oversee the supervision of employees and help delegate operations schedule to ensure proper work area coverage.

Evaluate performance of personnel and inspect assigned areas to ensure proper work performance.

Find and define problems, resolve issues, and use findings to make appropriate recommendations to management staff, staff, and/or customer contact to exercise continuous quality improvement and to exceed customer expectations.

Ensure employees comply with company standards related to clocking in and out at the start and end of shift.

Address customer concerns and inquiries and report any new or changing job/work orders.

Track and evaluate purchasing activities, supply and equipment usage and repairs.

Ensure appropriate chemical labeling, dilution, and storage requirements are conducted in accordance with company, customer and OSHA standards.

Oversee job‑training for staff on job‑specific tasks.

Participate in company and customer training ensuring effective communication and distribution of information to customers and employees.

Carry out management responsibilities in accordance with the company’s policies, customer’s rules and regulations and applicable laws when needed.

Assist with administrative tasks involving custodial personnel and facilities as directed.

Coordinate, assign and inspect the work of assigned custodial staff, including regular review and revisions of custodial task assignment sheets. Provide guidance and training as needed.

Coordinate regular and substitute cleaning team member staff coverage.

Develop and implement custodial cleaning procedures, routines and training as necessary. Assess efficiency of cleaning procedures and institute new or revised procedures to increase efficiency, effectiveness, safety, and best customer service practices.

Resolve customer complaints while ensuring management are kept informed while also attending staff meetings to discuss customer complaints.

Screen job applicants, hire new employees, and recommend promotions, transfers, and dismissals.

Perform routine safety checks and preventative maintenance of equipment. Conduct monthly safety meetings.

Complete weekly and monthly safety training for all employees, ensure employees understand all training and have signed off on the completion of the training.

Ensure all employees have the appropriate PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), and that employees are utilizing the correct PPE in the performance of duties.

Oversee supply orders and fulfillment.

Be instrumental in driving business growth.

Outside sales.

Qualifications

Valid driver’s license.

Minimum 2–3 years of supervisor experience in environmental/janitorial services.

Ability to work unsupervised.

Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Project management experience and ability to problem‑solve.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Degree preferred.
