Position Overview We are seeking an experienced
Safety Carpenter
to join our team for a
travel job in Rayville, LA.
This role focuses on building and installing safety-related structures across the jobsite, including decks, handrails, stairs, barricades, platforms, and signage. The ideal candidate has strong rough carpentry skills, understands OSHA safety standards, and can work independently or as part of a crew.
Key Responsibilities
Construct, install, and repair
decks, handrails, stairs, ramps, and platforms
used for jobsite safety and access.
Build and install
safety signs, barricades, and protective structures
as required.
Ensure all carpentry work meets OSHA, company, and project-specific safety requirements.
Perform layout, measurement, and cutting of materials (including wood, plywood, and framing lumber).
Operate carpentry tools, power tools, and equipment safely and effectively.
Inspect existing safety structures and perform repairs or replacements as needed.
Collaborate with site supervisors and safety teams to identify and build required structures.
Maintain clean and safe work areas at all times.
Qualifications
Proven experience in
rough carpentry
with a focus on safety-related structures (decks, handrails, stairs, signs, platforms).
Ability to read blueprints, sketches, and basic construction drawings.
Strong understanding of
construction safety practices
and OSHA standards.
Ability to lift 50+ lbs and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
Reliable, self-motivated, and able to work under minimal supervision.
Basic knowledge of tools, materials, and jobsite equipment.
