Apprentice Electrician
Electrical Apprentices assist Electricians with pulling cable, installing devices, repairing electrical equipment, and reading blueprints. Apprentices will enroll in a 4‑year Department of Labor Registered Apprenticeship Program. Some travel will be required. Pay is dependent on experience.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Works under the direct supervision of a Journeyman Electrician; demonstrates safe work habits and proper care of tools and equipment.
Assists with materials handling, installation of materials, devices, and equipment.
Identifies and eliminates hazardous conditions at the job site.
Maintains the job site in a safe, neat, and orderly condition.
Handles and stages materials, equipment, and tools.
Assists with layout, wire pulls, and installation.
May be required to operate heavy equipment.
Assists with cable tray installations, device installations, and lighting connections.
Receives On‑Job Learning (OJL) as part of the apprenticeship program.
Attends class and makes satisfactory progress toward program completion.
Safely operates hand and power tools.
Possesses the ability to read and interpret instructions, maps, and manuals.
Shows a positive safety attitude and personal integrity.
Legally operates company vehicles and equipment.
Working Conditions
Work required in all elements (rain, snow, heat, etc.).
Must keep work tools with them at all times (work belt, bag, etc.).
Uses all types of ladders (step ladders up to 14 ft, “A” Frame, extension ladders) and relocates a 12‑ft ladder by oneself.
Performs work at various heights, up to 90 ft from ladders, scaffolds, aerial lifts, and cat walks; works in restricted areas.
Wears protective personal equipment (PPE).
