Responsibilities
Diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining Caterpillar hydraulic components in the shop, including final drive, transmission, and torque converter.
Diagnostics and repair on various heavy equipment components, including Caterpillar drive‑train components and hydraulic systems.
Perform routine and complex repairs, inspect and maintain equipment, and rebuild components to ensure optimal performance.
Maintain detailed service records, collaborate with fellow technicians on complex repairs, and adhere to all safety protocols.
Competencies
Proficient reading and writing skills
Strong mechanical and mathematical aptitude
Basic computer literacy
Familiarity with Caterpillar component lines listed above
In‑depth knowledge of Caterpillar component applications, operations, and functions
Skilled in using Caterpillar diagnostic tools (Electronic Technician, Service Information System)
Expertise in diagnostic, testing, adjustment, and troubleshooting procedures
Job Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED is required, along with completion of a technical school program (minimum 2 years) focused on diesel or power equipment systems, plus at least 3 years of relevant industry experience.
Minimum of 5 years of hands‑on mechanical repair experience with diesel, earthmoving, or industrial equipment and components.

Physical Requirements

Standing/Sitting up and down stairs, standing, sitting, and climbing into machines
Dexterity: normal

Noise level: usually quiet in office settings and moderate to loud in other situations, with both constant and sudden loud noises possible.
