About Us Wisconsin Home Improvement (WHI) and Wisconsin Insulation Services (WIS) are long-established, family-owned companies specializing in home performance, insulation, and energy-efficiency solutions throughout Wisconsin. We operate a growing fleet of work vehicles and rely heavily on specialized equipment to serve our customers with excellence. We are looking for a skilled Mechanic to join our team and help maintain the tools, machines, and vehicles that keep our operation running smoothly.
Position Overview The Mechanic will be responsible for repairing, maintaining, and troubleshooting a wide variety of insulation-related equipment, heavy tools, and company vehicles. This role supports our production teams by ensuring equipment is safe, reliable, and ready for daily use.
Key Responsibilities Equipment Maintenance & Repair
Diagnose, service, and repair insulation blower machines
Insulation removal machines
Krendl & Krendl-style blowing equipment
Small power tools (drills, saws, vacuums, etc.)
Bobcat & attachments
Waterproofing equipment & sprayers
Perform preventative maintenance and documentation according to manufacturer guidelines.
Maintain inventory of parts, filters, fluids, and service supplies.
Vehicle Fleet Maintenance
Perform basic to intermediate repairs on company vehicles (vans, trucks, SUVs)
Conduct oil changes, brake jobs, tire rotations, fluid checks, and electrical diagnostics
Track maintenance schedules and ensure vehicles remain compliant and road-safe
Coordinate outsourcing of major repairs to approved vendors when needed
Shop & Safety Support Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop environment.
Assist with equipment setup/troubleshooting for crews as needed.
Monitor equipment condition and proactively recommend upgrades or replacements.
Requirements
2+ years of mechanic, equipment tech, or maintenance experience (automotive, construction, or industrial preferred)
Strong diagnostic skills and ability to troubleshoot independently
Ability to safely operate and repair insulation blowers, removal machines, and similar mechanical equipment (preferred, but training provided for the right candidate)
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and work in a shop environment
Reliable, detail-oriented, and able to work with minimal supervision
