Job Summary The Regional Driver Trainer is responsible for improving driver safety, compliance, performance, and professionalism across assigned terminals. This role focuses on coaching drivers and operations personnel, promoting a strong safety culture, ensuring regulatory compliance, and serving as a liaison between drivers, operations, and safety management.
Key Responsibilities Driver Training & Coaching
Train and assist drivers in the use of electronic logging devices (ELDs).
Train and counsel drivers on safe driving practices, customer service expectations, safe work habits, Hours of Service compliance, equipment inspection, and hazardous materials regulations.
Conduct driver road tests, ride‑alongs, and orientation meetings.
Provide accident and injury counseling and follow‑up.
Promote personal habits that improve driver safety and health.
Maintain an open hotline for driver support related to hazardous materials and safety concerns.
Safety Monitoring & Performance Management
Monitor driver performance using Brocade data and take appropriate action for recognition, coaching, retraining, or counseling.
Review driver data with CER, Safety Direct, SpeedGauge, Geotab, and CSA inspection results to communicate risk trends to Safety Management.
Participate in safety reviews and investigations as needed.
Terminal & Field Operations
Visit each terminal at least once per month to conduct yard checks, safety lane exercises, meetings with drivers, equipment inspections, and drop‑lot inspections.
Document interactions and submit terminal visit reports to Safety Management and the Regional Director.
Perform shop and warehouse inspections when requested.
Communicate equipment defects to operations and location maintenance, and remove defective equipment from service when required.
Safety Meetings & Campaigns
Conduct semi‑annual safety meetings at each terminal, ensuring 100% driver attendance.
Coordinate make‑up training for absentees and maintain complete training documentation.
Collaborate on periodic safety campaigns addressing targeted risk areas.
Administrative Responsibilities
Record all training and counseling activities in Brocade.
Develop terminal‑specific action plans and present them to Supervisor when issues are identified.
Submit accurate and timely SunTrust expense reports with receipts in PDF format.
Maintain professional communication with Safety Management, Operations, and Maintenance teams.
