Job Description T. Baker Smith, LLC is seeking a Land Survey Instrument Operator who specializes in field operations. The position will primarily assist the Party Chief in the operation of field survey personnel and the collection of field survey data.
Responsibilities
Work with experienced Party Chiefs to review project requirements.
Opportunity to train survey aides to operate survey instruments.
Operate necessary survey instruments to fulfill project requirements.
Participate in daily job safety analysis and tailgate meetings.
Gather necessary equipment and supplies to fulfill project requirements.
Compile notes, sketches, and records of survey data obtained.
Complete safety observation and incident reports as required.
Assist in scheduling routine maintenance on assigned vehicles and equipment.
Communicate effectively and professionally with clients in the field.
Desired Qualifications And Skills
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum of one year related work experience.
Ability to operate electronic distance measuring equipment and other land surveying instruments, boats, airboats, GPS, all‑terrain vehicles, and other necessary equipment.
Attention to detail, accuracy, and excellent interpersonal communication skills.
Physical/Environment Requirements The associate frequently stands, walks long distances while carrying equipment, sometimes through rugged terrain, mud, or swamp; drives or rides in a boat; sits; balances, stoops, kneels; lifts up to 50 pounds; uses hands to operate equipment; and can see and hear required. Exposure to weather, noise, dust, smells and other environmental factors is common. Nights away from home may be required.
