Pharmacy Customer Service Associate – Walgreens Base pay range: $17.94/hr - $20.00/hr

Responsibilities

Model and deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience.

Register sales on assigned cash register, providing customers with courteous, fair, friendly, and efficient checkout service.

Assist the pharmacist, under direct supervision, in the practice of pharmacy in accordance with state and federal regulations, using pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions.

Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services, resolving customer issues and answering questions.

Model and share customer service best practices with all team members to deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience.

Provide customers with courteous, friendly, fast, and efficient service; recommend items for sale; recommend trade‑up items; process voids, returns, refunds, and exchanges; assist customers to the OTC aisle.

Keep counters and shelves clean and well merchandised; take inventory; maintain records; check in and price merchandise as required.

Perform duties assigned by Pharmacy Manager, Staff Pharmacist and Store Manager including utilizing pharmacy systems to enter patient and drug information, ensuring accuracy, filling prescriptions, retrieving, counting, pouring pharmaceutical drugs, verifying medicine, checking for interactions; assist pharmacists in scheduling and maintaining workflow.

Report prescription errors immediately to pharmacist on duty and adhere to company policies and procedures relating to pharmacy errors and the Quality Improvement Program.

Adhere to Walgreens policy regarding Good Faith Dispensing during applicable prescription dispensing activities.

Handle telephone calls that do not require personal attention of the pharmacist, including calls to physicians.

Process (correct and resubmit) manual claims for third‑party program prescription services efficiently and perform other clerical duties as assigned.

Assist and support Pharmacy Department on inventory management activities, such as ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing shipment of pharmaceuticals; maintain knowledge of asset protection techniques; file claims for overages, shortages, order errors or damaged goods involving Rx drugs.

Ensure compliance with state and local laws regarding regulated products (e.g., alcoholic beverages, tobacco products).

Construct and maintain displays, including promotional, seasonal, super structures, and sale merchandise; complete resets and revisions as directed.

Assist with separation of food items, product placement, stock rotation using first‑in, first‑out method and restock outs.

Have working knowledge of store systems and store equipment.

Provide customer service in the photo area.

Assume web pickup responsibilities; monitor orders, pick items, deliver orders.

Assist with exterior and interior maintenance ensuring clean, orderly store condition.

Comply with all company policies and procedures; maintain respectful relationships with coworkers.

Complete special assignments and other tasks as assigned.

Training & Personal Development

Earn and maintain PTCB certification through the designated training program and/or state‑required certification/registration.

Attend training and complete PPLs requested by manager or assigned by corporate; acquire continuing education credits; maintain knowledge and skill in healthcare and pharmacy.

Basic Qualifications

Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico).

Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekend hours.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferable six months of experience in a retail environment.

Preferable prior work experience with Walgreens.

Good math skills for accurate prescription filling.

Good computer skills.

Knowledge of store inventory control.

PTCB certification.
