Multiple Part-Time positions available, District-Wide
Hours per day (2.5 - 5) & days per week (3 - 5) available.
Schedule to be determined at time of hire.

Job Summary: The Food Service Assistant is responsible for preparing and/or building food items while providing customer service and adhering to food safety, food handling, and sanitation procedures. Perform cashiering duties in the sale of food items to students and staff; maintain cleanliness of food service facilities.
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:
High School Diploma or G.E.D. Certificate
Food Handlers’ Certificate helpful but not required
Basic computer skills – Point of Sale system
Basic Math skills
Understand verbal and written directions – communication skills
Ability to work as part of a team and independently
Customer-oriented – pleasant disposition toward children using tact, patience, and courtesy
Possess or develop skills and knowledge to perform responsibly
Planning – observe, assess, and problem solve a situation
Ability to maintain a secure environment
Operate standard kitchen tools, equipment, and cooling procedures, safely and efficiently
Willingness to do cross-training and certification
Proper lifting techniques
Learn and follow health and sanitation requirements
Maintain food service equipment and areas in a clean and sanitary condition
Work cooperatively with others
Must successfully complete and maintain compliance with all federal and state background and criminal record check requirements
Candidate must adhere to all local, state, federal, and school code requirements for employment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Prepare, cook and serve appropriate quantities of food in a timely manner, assuring proper quality and quantity of food prepared.
Assemble items to be served and sold at designated food service area locations.
Prepare food service facilities for the serving of food; assure that serving lines are properly stocked with adequate food, beverages and supplies; prepare the steam table for serving hot meals.
Heat, portion and serve food to students and staff according to established procedures.
Operate Point-Of-Service system; collect money for food items sold and make appropriate change; count money and prepare cash registers with appropriate amount and denominations of change; ability to reconcile cash drawer.
Count and maintain inventory records and notify supervisor of needed supplies.
Assist other Food Service personnel with cooking and baking activities; work as a team.
Maintain work areas and serving areas in a clean, sanitary and safe condition; wash and clean counters and steam tables; wash and store equipment, pots, pans, trays and other food service items.
Assist in storing unused food and supplies to assure compliance with health and sanitation standards; dispose of unusable leftovers and trash.
Operate a variety of standard kitchen equipment such as slicer, and grater, steamer, dishwasher, steam cart and ovens as required.
Participate in ongoing professional training.
Observe safety and security procedures; report potentially unsafe conditions.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Maintain regular attendance.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Work is performed while standing, sitting, and/or walking.
Requires the ability to communicate effectively using speech, vision, and hearing.
Requires the use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations.
Requires bending, squatting, crawling, climbing, reaching.
Requires the ability to frequently lift, carry, push or pull up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds.
