This role carries responsibility within the Senior Center Program, where the individual serves as an assistant to the Director of a versatile Senior Center, which may act as a central hub for community activities. The Assistant Director collaborates closely with the Director to advance the objectives of the center and may oversee and manage the center independently in the Director''s absence.
Responsibilities
Plan and lead a variety of arts and crafts classes.
Organize and execute special programs and activities such as events, parties, and trips.
Secure knowledgeable speakers for programs covering topics like life skills, education, nutrition, tax preparation, and health issues.
Escort groups of seniors on outings, coordinating travel and meals and providing assistance in unexpected situations.
Coordinate nutrition programs and activities in alignment with the center''s operations.
Manage completion of membership and attendance forms for the center, whether for general participation or specific activities.
Work Schedule and Additional Information
Full-time employment
Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday – Friday, with a 30-minute lunch
Telework is not available for this position
Salary: Starting salary may be non-negotiable in some cases

Qualifications
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements
Three months of experience providing direct services in a human services, education, or community-based setting to the aging population or to individuals from diverse cultures and socio-economic backgrounds, or to individuals with disabilities
Any equivalent combination of experience and training

Hiring preference may be given to candidates who live within Luzerne or Wyoming counties; if none apply, candidates from other counties may be considered.
You must be able to perform essential job functions.
